MARRY YOUR BEST FRIEND

DEVON & JONATHAN

Some weddings hit me like a lightening strike.

I just can’t get enough of Devon and Jonathan's wedding day in Denmark. They came all the way from New York to celebrate their specail day with both family sides.

The energy all day was electric and I felt there was not dry eye in the room; tears of happiness and abundant love surrounded the couple. The meaning of commitment evolves and changed through our life-stages and it's an honour to witness each couples unique wedding vows.

During our pre-wedding comunication, I was ecstatic when Devon showed me her ceremony wedding dress. I posted this Danielle Frankel dress to my Instagram Stories a few months ago with the caption, "PREATTY please would one of my brides wear this".

Devon had chosen the dress!

Devon wore her Danielle Frankel dress with chic Alexander McQueen high heels.

To me with all the elegance of her dress, choosing a minimalist bouquet, shoes and veil was the perfect editorial choice!

Thank you Devon and Jonathan for inviting me to capture your special day.

It was a joy to photograph you and your families meeting together.

TELL ME ABOUT THE “THE BEGINNING”?

Jonathan and I met on my rooftop in NYC, little to nothing said to each other, Jonathan still tells me to this day he knew I was meant to be in his life the very moment he met me. A few weeks later, he had came over for thanksgiving dinner, confessed his love & our journey began!

WHEN AND WHERE DID YOU GET ENGAGED?

We got engaged down in Seaport, NYC. This was a place we walked to often. We would sit and watch the water and talk about the future together. It was very special and on St Patrick’s Day—how lucky!!!

WHAT DOES MARRIAGE MEAN TO YOU?

Marriage means conquering the world with your best friend. We have always been on the same page that this is a life commitment to better each other and to support each other through every life obstacle.

We are a team for life.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO GET MARRIED WHERE YOU DID?

Jonathan is from Denmark originally. We knew we wanted a smaller wedding (at least for the first one) and knew if this took place in New York, it would’ve been the next Fashion Week extravaganza lol! The church was a place where generations were married and buried. Denmark is beautiful, surrounded by nature, to us, this was an easy decision.

WHAT STYLE/THEME HAVE YOU CHOSEN FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY?

I wanted something classic. We really just went with the flow of what came our way. If I’m being completely honest, the only things we planned was my bouquet, wedding dress, church & the castle after.

Of course, choosing an AMAZING photographer was the cherry on top. I think going with the flow was the best thing we ever did.

SOURCES OF INSPIRATION?

I searched Pinterest for wedding ideas. Danielle Frankel was my wedding dress designer and her studio was a dream, I feel of I got my inspiration from anywhere it was from that studio and her photos.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR OUTFITS

Danielle frankel wedding dress, she is an amazing designer. My second dress was from Meshkii, I didn’t want to go crazy and spend a ton. I’m not a huge white outfit girl, I gravitate towards darker tones so having an extra white dress for thousands of dollars was not priority here!

WHAT ARE YOUR TOP TIPS FOR OTHER COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?

Travel to Denmark to get married!!! This was the best decision of my life. Nature, food, cost, experience—all amazing.

Be sure to hire a top tier photographer, I was beyond lucky here.

Don’t stress/over plan. This is supposed to be a magical day with your partner and family. When I say we let everything come to us I really mean that.

Of course we had to chose things but if they weren’t available, you move onto the next. Everything that was meant to be was. It was supposed to rain our wedding week and it ended up being the sunniest day. Number one compliment we received during our wedding was how beautiful it was, how everything was just perfect and my favorite from Jonathan’s dad “I don’t know how the hell we did this but it came out pretty damn perfect”
